AAII Baltimore meeting

This month's American Association of Independent Investors/Baltimore Chapter meeting will be on "The Case for Roth Conversion". The speaker will be Matt Carbone, regional VP of Retirement Wealth Strategies.

  1. There are a lot of different opinions on this topic, will be interesting to see what this guy recommends.

  2. Its complicated. At first everyone thought it was a no-brainer. Then they crunched the numbers and found it didn't make any difference in a lot of instances. Finally, financial planners started looking at all the little nuances where it can negatively affect people - increase Medicare premiums etc.
So I think today we are at the point where we understand that it can be a fairly complex analysis.
To provide additional entertainment there are those seeking, as always, to exploit the financially illiterate - do a Roth conversion and put it into an annuity etc.
