I'm a fan of William Bernstein as many in the investment community are and believe some of his books are the best available in terms of investment advice. Biz of Life has this great
post of Bernstein talking about the lessons presented in "The Investor's Manifesto".
Thanks for the reference. There is another Bernstein video as part of the google author's series that I started to post as a companion to this, but the audio is poor quality. Bernstein doesn't know how to use the microphone effectively. The video is more about economics than investing, but worth a look. It can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTUZXwQwUJM
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the Google author series talk by Bernstein. I had noted that book and meant to look it up at the library but never got around to it.
ReplyDeleteIf you watch the "Commanding Heights" series you'll come across Hernando DeSoto, a Peruvian economist who takes a cross sectional view of the property rights idea. In "Mystery of Capital" (great book by the way if you are interested in this sort of thing) DeSoto argues that the third world has a lot of wealth but the lack of property rights - ability to put up what you own as collateral etc. - prevents them from making economic progress.
Actually the "Commanding Heights" series is on line at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1466397368167658753#
Thanks for the tips. I began watching "Commanding Heights" yesterday, a very good and thorough series, though surprisingly long.
